Total Stretch 5

Months of working on stretching to achieve my goal of getting my needle, I have sadly not reached my goal. It may take me longer to build up my flexibility for my back. For some people it takes them a little longer because they werent born with natural flexibility. I am one of those people. To me, I feel like my back actually lost some flexibility, but thats okay because I still have the motivation to reach my goal of getting my needle. Here are some of the new stretches that I tried and will add to my stretching routine to become more flexible.

The first new stretch that I tried out was called "The Standing Back Bend", this was a moderate/hard stretch (57).
This stretch was actually kind of hard for me because it was hard to go all the way back without pushing myself too hard to the point where I would hurt myself. It was hard to control how far I went because gravity kept on forcing me back farther so I had to use my hands for support. In the text it states "2. Lean back as far as you can without pushing your self too far, put your hands on your side" (57). So I altered this stretch a little to reduce the chance of injury. Overall this stretch was a little too hard for me, but in the future I plan to put my hands on my side instead of the back of my legs so I can make this stretch a little more difficult for me and it will also improve my flexibility every time I try to improve on my stretches.

The second stretch I tried was called "Back Twist", this was an easy stretch (59).
This stretch was a very easy stretch and also felt relaxing. I really felt the stretch in my lower back. This stretch was very helpful too because it stretched my back by twisting my back instead of leaning back. This was a total different way than all of the other stretches I have been doing and this has really benefited me. Stretches that stretch parts of your body in a new and different way can really benefit you. In the "Different stretches" section Roscoe Nash states, "If you try different stretches then what you are used too, it may help improve your flexibility..." (88). This really convinced me to try these new stretches that I learned from the book because I saw that if I tried new stretches my flexibility had a better chance of improving. This stretch specifically related to this quote because all of the stretches that I learned from this book and stretches that I previously known have all had to do with leaning back, not twisting. This stretches challenged me in a way that benefited me.

Here is my most recent attempt of a getting a full needle:
Some things that I need to work on to improve my needle is, lifting my chest up and holding my leg at my calf. Even though I did not get a full needle with my legs in a complete splits position, I will keep motivating myself to get my needle and one say I will reach my goal!

Dont give up on something if you dont get it right away because it takes some people longer to achieve a goal. You have to have motivation to be able to achieve your goal. Keep challenging yourself and dont give up because you will meet your goal one day.

Question:
Has there ever been something that you have tried to achieve but just never achieved it? If so, what was it and did you give up or are you still trying to reach that goal?

Dog walk to the park

Over winter break I took my dog Dexter, out for a walk to Petrovitsky Park because it is only 15 minutes away from my house and I had nothing else better to do. I am sure that Dexter was aware of his surroundings because we have gone to Petrovitsky park numerous times. Today I did something different which was taking Dexter down to the baseball field at Petrovitsky Park even though I know I am  not supposed to. I wanted to test out to see what he would do on the field and thankfully he didnt go to the bathroom on it. My experience with Dexter exploring new grounds was that I can tell he was having fun by wagging his tail and rolling in the dirt because every thing was so new and exciting to him. Author Val Mallinson, an author and dog lover quotes, " They ( dogs) know the big wide world out there holds more wonder than they can possibly fit into their short dog lifetime....They (dogs) are right, there are marvels out there" (Mallinson 2). What I learned from that quote by listening to Val Mallinson is that she is correct and that I should take Dexter out to many "wonders" to him to explore because before I know it his life will end eventually.

Petrovitsky Park
Overall my experience taking Dexter to the local park and doing something new has taught me, that I should take Dexter onto different grounds once in a while so he can have fun instead of being cooped up inside.

My question to any pet owners is, do you believe that your pet will live linger just by taking them out for a walk once in a while?

The Human Face

Our face is one of the first things a person sees when they look at us. Our face is a big part of what makes ourselves "us". Different details in our face is what differentiates ourselves from others. This is why drawing faces can be very difficult. In Mark Kistlers book You Can Draw in 30 Days, Kistler shows how to capture emotions through drawing a face.

To start, Kistler says to "trace the beautiful face, forehead, cheek, and chin
with an S-curving line" (218).

Next, I drew an outline of the nose and the eyebrow.

Then I drew the eyes. As said in a previous post of mine, the eyes are what show the emotion and tone of the drawing. For my drawing, I decided to send out a sad and tired tone.

Kistler then says to outline the drawings hair with s-shaped wisps of hair (219).

I then drew the lips. Lip thickness and size depends on your preferences. To continue the tone of sadness, I pointed the lips slightly downward.

Lastly, I shaded in shadows that are cast on her face.

Drawing this wasnt as hard as I expected it to be. I learned that by drawing details of the face differently, for example, drawing the lips slightly upward or downward, the artist can portray different emotions through the drawing. Do you think that drawing can reveal different emotions? Do you think there is a better way to reveal different tones through a piece of art?

Odd Bits And Pieces

Dear friends,

Our life, even if we like it or not, even if we agree or we do not, is made out of odd bits and pieces put together by love and friendship and other honorable feelings that we have until those bits become a whole. When we come into the world we are a whole and then as time passes and we begin our learning curve we begin to break and lose bits and pieces of ourself. We pick them up and put them back with the help of other people but we never are the same. Once you are broken you will never be perfectly whole again - you will still see the cracks or if you will not see them you will still know they are there... Do those cracks make us wiser or are they just a simple reminder for us so we would take care not to get hurt again? And can you actually stop being hurt? I believe not... I mean unless you make your heart be out of stone and that is a choice that I - for one - am not willing to take! I prefer to feel all the range of the emotions and still have my heart clear and pure than feel nothing and have a black and soulless heart...
 ***
As the Bible says: "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh." (Ezekiel 36:26) I dont pretend to know much of the matters of the heart but I know my heart and I know how I feel. I know my heart was broken by people I love and also by people I just met. I am vulnerable to comments and bad words/feedback and I try to work on this as this has been my weakness since I was small... My weakness and my strength at the same time, as I am pretty good at knowing people and what they can do - sometimes I fail, it is true, I am not perfect but I am doing my best with the given circumstances ;)
What helped me in time to understand and heal myself from a broken heart was the fact that I could not change people. It is as simple as that... You have the power in yourself to change yourself but you will never be able to change someone else! Unless they will want to change nothing will happen to them. To you, yes, you may become upset and get your heart broken in the process... which I do not recommend ;) Try not to focus on changing people - that never works out. Try to make yourself a better person and enjoy the small things in life. In that way you will start not to notice the cracks in your heart... you will still feel them, once in a while, when you will meet/talk/see the person who caused it but you will be stronger in time. And I will let you in another secret: Time heals wounds ;) give it some time and it will get better. You might not believe it at first but it will get better in time.
***
When I was with my adorable husband in Warsaw last Monday, we bumped into some odd bits and pieces as well :) For example he spotted this adorable LadyBug (in the picture above) - they were all around Warsaw, promotional teasers for a children movie about small little insects... the name escapes me but that is not the point :p the point is the fact that now we see LadyBugs everywhere ;))) and when he sees a LadyBug he needs to show me it and it is adorable for me, kinda like a recognition... that I am there :) and that is when we both start smiling and we forget about the Hell of the day that we had... the fact that it was bloody cold and we were freezing and we had to face bureaucracy... all that fades away... and we smile :)
Also we had a bit of fun with the pictures above, which were taken next to one of the Embassies next to the Romanian one. The sidewalk was painted for parking spots and it seems there was a problem and they had to take away the pavement and put it back. It looks perfect, like it was brand new, except the lines ;))) Just like our hearts... we put the odd bits and pieces together and we make the heart whole and it looks whole... like it was never broken, but you can still see the cracks...  In time they may heal but you will still feel them!

P.S. Dear hearts, please never break a heart! A heart will mend but it will never be the same again!

Yours truly,
Your LadyBug :*
